Self-abandonment feels like living in an abandoned house.

What is self-abandonment?

Self-abandonment is the habit of prioritizing other people's preferences, feelings, and expectations over your own.

 

Not just in moments when someone really needs you, or because it's part of your job, or when a situation calls for it.

But consistently... by people-pleasing, staying in relationships that don't feel right, neglecting your own emotions and life, and performing for love and approval.

 

And now -- just like an abandoned house -- you feel empty, neglected, resentful, and uncomfortable inside.

Why does this matter?


When you 

​Not because this is who you truly are as a person.

But because you've abandoned your own "house" in attempt to find home outside yourself.

You've tended to everyone else's emotions for so long, that your own feelings have become overgrown and problematic.

You've taken great care tending to the lives of others, while your own dreams and interests sit in the dark collecting dust.

You've given so much space for others to be themselves, that there's no room for you to express who you truly are.

So when you finally do come back to try to love and focus on yourself, it feels... empty, messy, uncomfortable.
